Cloud brooch
Cloud brooch
This engraved silver brooch was made to accompany a touring exhibition of Turner’s paintings (Turner: Northern Exposure) from the Tate Gallery’s collection back in 2020. The brooch was inspired by a watercolour study of Bamburg Castle that Turner created c. 1837.
The brooch is made from oxidised silver which has been engraved with a cloud pattern. A small circular portion of dark prussian blue laminate has been combined with a sheet of bamboo to create the interior of the brooch. The engraved oxidised silver is attached through this material with rivets. The brooch pin is made from steel piano wire.
The brooch measures 4.2 cm in diameter.
