It all started when I started watching the starlings in murmuration.
The majority of my work explores themes that embody movement; both literal and metaphorical. This newest collection focuses on representing the movement of the starling that swoop close to my studio in East Yorkshire.
The making of the big cloud statement earrings.
After developing a way of securing the tiny starlings through the delicate mirrored perspex sheet I embarked on these statement earrings. Each bird has been carefully textured, folded, soldered, oxidised, polished and riveted. Hours of patience and hard work have gone into this pair of Murmuring Flock collection earrings.
Intricate details and delicate engraved patterns.
Many of the pieces in the Murmuring Flock collection feature an engraved cloud pattern inspired by the pen and ink drawings by the American artist Frankin Booth. The golden oval and big cloud earrings have this texture engraved on the front and back.
